Shabby Notecard with All Abloom DSP

Today's project is an entry in The Shabby Tea Room's "Sketch This" Challenge #225.  I love participating in this great weekly challenge.  Most weeks, we are inspired by a photograph and asked to use specific elements in our projects.  Such fun!  As the site says, "Only our name is shabby ... your project need not be!" -- I love the challenge of making something that falls within that aesthetic!

Studio Suggestions:

  • I used the new All Abloom DSP from Stampin' Up!  This Designer Series Paper comes in a "stack" of 4.5 x 6.5-inch sheets.  There are 12 great designs and they are such fun to use in cardmaking!
  • The DSP drives the color palette:  Mossy Meadow (a *new* 2014-16 In Color), Island Indigo, Pistachio Pudding and Daffodil Delight.
  • Pearl Basic Jewels add a quick and simple classic touch.
  • Linen Thread is looped between the 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch and the 1-3/8" Circle Punch in Island Indigo.
  • The Project Life Corner Punch makes for a quick detail to "round out" the project (pun totally intended).

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Kind & Cozy (W129123, C129126)

Papers:  All Abloom DSP Stack (133703), Mossy Meadow (133676), Daffodil Delight (119683), Island Indigo (122923), Pistachio Pudding (131924) and Whisper White (100730) Card Stocks

Inks:  Island Indigo (126986) and Pistachio Pudding (131177) Classic Inks

Accessories:  Pearl Basic Jewels (119247), Linen Thread (104199), 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch (127811), 1-3/8" Circle Punch  (119860), Project Life Corner Punch (135346), Retired Itty Bitty Shapes Punch (I'm sorry -- I wasn't thinking when I reached for this), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

Welcome Back!

Welcome back, Patient Readers!  I've been out-of-town for a family vacation and then I had an unexpected (but lovely) trip to Chicago.  I'm back and with fewer than 10 days until the end of Sale-a-Bration, I've got a lot of projects to share that I've made with my goodies.

First, the blog's banner and buttons were made using my One Big Sale-a-Bration 2013 Digital Disc.  All of the Sale-a-Bration goodies (minus the regular catalog merchandise featured as freebies) are available on this disc for use with My Digital Studio.  Sweet!  Seven stamp brush sets, 12 DSPs, 24 embellishments and a punch are included.  In addition, there's a two-page photo template including a three-piece stamp brush set, five embellishments and three punches!

This is definitely a freebie worth snatching up (yours with any $50 merchandise purchase until March 22)!

Thanks for stickin' with me these last couple of weeks!

{Sale-a-Bration 2013} has begun!

It's here, it's here, it's here!  The annual promotion which gives customers (and hostesses!) gifts with each $50 purchase is upon us.  From now until March 22, with every $50 merchandise purchase, you can earn exclusive Sale-a-Bration *freebies* like stamp sets, ribbon and buttons, Designer Series Paper, a Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, a punch, or select items from the Annual Catalog!

This is the time of year I stock up on ink refills, card stock, ribbon and other consumables because the freebies are THAT good.  I purchase from the Annual and Spring Catalogs, of course, but also from the My Digital Studio content and the Clearance Rack, as well!

In addition to the $50 freebies, there are gifts for hostesses, too.  Receive free Glimmer Paper for a $150 workshop and the adorable Sycamore Street Hostess Bundle for free if your workshop's merchandise total is $400!  Place an order by yourself or gather friends for a workshop (in-person or virtually for a catalog party)!

You can order by clicking HERE or using the {Shop} button on the left (please remember to designate me as your demonstrator).  You are always most welcome to email or phone me if you'd like assistance or for me to place your order.  I've got a special Studio-Sara Shoppers Benefit Plan, so shopping through me has its rewards!

I've already placed my first Sale-a-Bration order and here are the first three {freebies} I picked:

I love a versatile punch and this one coordinates not only with a Sale-a-Bration stamp set, but one in the Spring Catalog, too.  Whether you're using it with a stamped image or with DSP or card stock alone, it makes a darling accent!

This Vine Street TIEF is *awesome*, no matter which way you face the embossed image (the "right" side or the "negative" side if you flip it).  Stay tuned for A LOT more projects with this baby...

*LOVE* the Sale-a-Bration DSP every year; *HATE* that it's only available for a short time.  This is the one item I tend to stockpile and hoard.  ;)

Once again, please give me a shout if you're in need of a hard copy of either the Sale-a-Bration catalog or the 2013 Spring Catalog.  Operators are standing by (read: me)...

A {peek} at this week's projects...

I found myself with a little extra time to create this week, so I thought I'd share some of the projects I've been working on.  Stay tuned; I’ll be posting on each project, giving you all of the details…

A quick and simple "Thank You" note for my son's basketball coach:
"Kidoodles" isn't just for kids; its fun and light-hearted illustrations can be used for adults, too!

I created this card for a sketch challenge last week.  I love pairing punches together.  This one is the Doily Triple Layer; I just punched one with the detail setting and one with the outline shape setting with a 1/2-inch circle in between.  So easy!
This card was created for a color scheme challenge.  Blues and greens are my favorite, so this was a breeze to make.  I love the Fresh Vintage set, which is a 2012 Sale-A-Bration freebie (only available until March 31)!
Another entry in a sketch challenge (and an entry for a shamrock challenge).  I wanted a card I could use year-round, so here we go!  Subtles Patterns Design Series Paper Pack is what I used to make the shamrocks (that, and my Heart to Heart punch)...
Have I mentioned how much I love to mix and match punches?  This dear old one in Poppy Parade is retired (I can't bring myself to not use it, though)...  The yummy Designer Series Paper is another 2012 Sale-A-Bration freebie...  Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper is a gift with any $50 merchandise purchase (until March 31).  I'll be using every last scrap, I can assure you!
One of my favorite challenges is one based upon an advertisement.  The lovely woman who owned our home before us got the yummiest catalogs and now so do we!!  This card was created based upon a Bombay Company ad.  Don't throw those catties away until you've snipped some card inspiration from them (color schemes, design elements, fun patterns, etc).  More about this to follow in its own post *soon*.

Voila!  That's what I was able to crank out this weekend between basketball, softball, baseball, etc.  Truly a busy weekend, but those stolen moments revived me.  Check back this week for detailed posts about these (and other!) projects...

{Stamp Set Spotlight} Home for Christmas: Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the Home for Christmas {Stamp Set Spotlight}! If you missed Day 1, click here.

Here's another example of how I didn't watercolor the ENTIRE image. I just highlighted a few parts...I love this simple treatment with the sentiment. Layering punches is such a quick way to add contrast between colors, texture and dimension. For this treatment, I used the Designer Label and Modern Label Punches.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Home for Christmas

Paper: Old Olive, Real Red, Early Espresso and Whisper White card stocks

Inks: Jet Black Staz-On, Real Red, Early Espresso and Old Olive Classics

Accessories: Blender Pen, Early Espresso wide grosgrain, Designer Label and Modern Label Punches, Stampin' Dimensionals,

Thanks for your visit! As I said in Day 1, I hope you find yourself "Home for Christmas", whatever that means to you, this season...
