A Little Mojo and Some Birdsong

Today's project was an entry for the Mojo Monday MOJO246, 365 Cards "Word of the Week:  Music" (think birdsong), and Dynamic Duos (Always Artichoke and River Rock) Challenges.
I used my Language of Friendship set, because I love the little songbird (punched out with the Bird Builder punch) and I thought the three elements in the Mojo sketch would be fun with the blooms from that set, as well.  Notice that I stamped one of the flowers and punched it, using the Boho Blossoms punch, popping it up with a Stampin' Dimensional.
The Dynamic Duo challenge allows us to use a neutral in our project, so I chose Crumb Cake (aka "Kraft").  I also ran my piece of Always Artichoke through my Big Shot for some added texture.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Language of Friendship (W122750, C122752)

Papers:  Always Artichoke (105119), River Rock (108640), Crumb Cake (120953) and Bashful Blue (105120) card stocks (*as I went to link this entry to the Dynamic Duos blog, I see that I was to only use the two colors highlighted -- I'll follow the directions better in the next challenge!)

Inks:  Always Artichoke (126972) and River Rock (126977) Classics

Accessories:  Boho Blossoms punch (119858), Bird Builder punch (117191), Big Shot (113439), Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (117335), Very Vanilla 1/8-inch Taffeta Ribbon (119960), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

Here Comes Summer! {Mixed Bunch}

As I write this, summer seems to have finally arrived...  The sun is out, the birds are singing and the sky is blue!  This card was created for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge, in which we were to use "Here Comes Summer" to inspire our projects.
I started with Mixed Bunch and inked it in Island Indigo and Rich Razzleberry.  The flowers were punched using the Blossom punch and the centers were punched using the one-inch and 1-1/4-inch Circle punches.
Next, I fed a piece of Island Indigo through my Big Shot, using the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
Finally, Basic Rhinestones were added to give the project a dash of bling...

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Mixed Bunch (W125535, C125537)

Apothecary Art {Clean and Simple}

Ah, summer has arrived!  While we're in the throes of enjoying a softball All-Star tournament and swim lessons, we've finally arrived at the end of the school year.  It was a terrific one and now we're ready for a fun and restful summer.

This card was made for two challenges.  First, I entered it in the 365 Cards "Word of the Day:  Round" challenge and the Freshly Made Sketches (#40) challenge.  The 365 Cards challenge asked us to include round things (I love the new Labels Collection Framelits and thought they were just "round" enough).

The pearl and the mini silver brads "rounded out" the project...
Once again, I used the corner of my square punch to make the pennant flag shape in the sentiment (from Fabulous Phrases).
Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Apothecary Art (W125525, C125527), Fabulous Phrases (W117002, C120501)

Papers:  Sahara Sand (121043), Not Quite Navy (101722), Rose Red (102544)

Inks:  Rose Red (126954) and Not Quite Navy (126971) Classics

Accessories:  Big Shot (113439), Labels Collection Framelits (125598), Whisper White Taffeta (109070),   Mini Silver Brads (122941), Large Pearl Basic Jewels (125577), Glue Dots (103683)

Father's Day Card: {Forever Young}

There's something very poetic about this stamp set's name and Father's Day...  I love the tree and thought it made a nice focal point for this masculine card.

I entered this card in the 365 Cards Heavy Metal Challenge last week and also in the CardPatterns Sketch 169 challenge for this week.  The antique brad at the top adds heavy metal, but with a touch of panache.
The sentiment is crafted from a Decorative Label punch (which I had fun trimming) and the stamped image from Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched out with the Word Window punch.
The card stock colors are courtesy of my Color Coach:  Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist and Bashful Blue.  I wanted to use the Marina Mist striped Designer Series Paper (from the Subtles Patterns Stack), and that drove the rest of the color choices.

The Crumb Cake piece with the tree stamped upon it was fed through my Big Shot with the Labels Collection Framelit and the Crumb Cake piece beneath it was sueded.

The flagged end of the Marina Mist Designer Series Paper was achieved using my 1-1/4" Square punch.

Happy Father's Day to the men in my life!  We love you!

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Forever Young (W122570, C122572), Teeny Tiny Wishes (W115370, C127802)

A Graduation Card in {Gumball Green}

I created this card for a couple of young women graduating this spring.  I also entered it in the 365 Super Sketchy Sunday challenge and the Cute Card Thursday "Water, Water Everywhere" challenge.
This fun, eye-catching color combination is made up of two new In-Colors:  Gumball Green and Midnight Muse.

The pennant flag is achieved using my square punch (just about any size will do!).
I popped my Gumball Green piece through my Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then added three silver brads...  What a snap!

I colored the image using my Blender Pen and a bit of Midnight Muse Classic Ink.  Whisper White Organza "ties it all together" (wink, wink).

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Kidoodles (W122865, C122867)

Papers:  Gumball Green (126840), Midnight Muse (126843), and Whisper White (100730)

Paris: Artistic Etchings {à la français}

 Here's a French twist on a Mojo Monday entry...  I also entered it in the 365 Cards Color Combo challenge last week (Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy).
The Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon is so simple to work with; it's very compliant ribbon!
The 1-3/4" Circle and 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punches work well together...
I *love* my Modern Label Punch...  I simply punched a scrap of Chocolate Chip with it and adhered it behind the stamped Sahara Sand.  Attaching the two just left of the edge of Not Quite Navy makes the tag stand out a bit more.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Artistic Etchings (W118517, C120573), Fabulous Phrases (W117002, C120501)

Papers:  Sahara Sand (121043), Chocolate Chip (102128), Cherry Cobbler (119685), Not Quite Navy (101722)

Simple {Summer Afternoon} Card for Challenges

This card was created for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #38 and the 365 Cards ABCs & 123s Challenge.  Summer Afternoon is a fun new Hostess Set.  I inked it in Early Espresso Classic Ink and then used my Crumb Cake, Perfect Plum and Cherry Cobbler inks and my Blender Pen to color in the design.
Tiny Tags provides quick and easy sentiments to personalize your projects.  I *LOVE* this set...  I punched the tag with the Jewelry Tag punch and sponged it with Cherry Cobbler Classic ink.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Summer Afternoon (W126425, C126427), Tiny Tags (W118901, C118592)

Baby Shower Card with {Fussy Cutting}

Peek-a-boo!  This sweet stamp set, Baby Bundle, was used to make a card for an upcoming baby shower gift.  It was also a CardPatterns entry for their sketch and an entry at 365 Cards for "Feeling Fussy" (fussy cutting).  I didn't get the irony until now (baby card = fussy?)  Ha!
Studio-Sara Suggestion:  Use the Stampin' Up! Paper Snips (super sharp -- I've cut myself before!) and with the jaws wide open, slowly make your cuts.  If you do repeated snips, it's harder to get a clean edge on your cutting.
My Stamp-a-Ma-Jig made it easy to place the baby *just so*.  My Blender Pen (dipped in Pink Pirouette) and my {new} Summer Starfruit Stampin' Write Marker made coloring in the carriage a snap.  I used my Blender Pen with the Basic Gray ink to do the tires (after the Pink Pirouette, just to be sure the pen was super-clean).

The piece of Whisper White with the image was backed on a piece of Primrose Petals, another {new} In Color.
The Top Note die, fed back through my Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, plus a snippet of Whisper White Organza Ribbon add a bit of class to this project.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Baby Bundle (W118525, C120576)

Papers:  Pink Pirouette (111351), Basic Gray (121044), Primrose Petals (126841), Summer Starfruit (126839), and Whisper White (100730) card stocks.

Inks:  Pink Pirouette (126956), Basic Gray (126981), Basic Black (126980) and Primrose Petals (126858) Classics and Summer Starfruit Stampin' Write Marker (126856 for the 2012 In Color set)

Accessories:  Big Shot (113439), Top Note Bigz die (113463), Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (117335), Paper Snips (105379), Stamp-a-Ma-Jig (101049), Blender Pens (102845), Whisper White Organza Ribbon (114319), 3/4-inch Circle Punch (119873), 3/16-inch Corner Punch (119871), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

Happy Birthday, Dear Sister! Inspired by {Stevie Nicks' Rhiannon}

"She takes to the sky like a bird in flight,
and who will be her lover?"
Happy Birthday today to my dear "baby" sister...  Our soundtrack growing up was filled with Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, so when a challenge came up recently from 365 Cards to create a card inspired by music, I knew who would be the inspiration (musically) and who would be the recipient (an inspiration herself).
The card base is Stampin' Up!'s new In Color, Summer Starfruit and it's combined with Elegant Eggplant and Baja Breeze.  The lovely bird and the background stamp I used are retired, but I had to share anyway...  The flowers are made with the Bojo Blossoms punch and the shapes are cut out using the Labels Collection Framelits.
Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Fabulous Phrases (W117002, C120501), Vintage Vogue and Notably Ornate (retired)

Papers:  Summer Starfruit (126839), Elegant Eggplant (105126), Baja Breeze (111352), and Whisper White (100730)

Inks:  Elegant Eggplant (126969), Basic Black (126980)

Accessories:  Labels Collection Framelits (125598), Big Shot (113439), Boho Blossoms (119858) and Modern Label (119849) punches, Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246)

{Sneak Peek}: Projects from the New Stampin' Up! 2012-13 Annual Catalog

I've got the line, "Getting to know you..." floating through my head this weekend.  The new 2012-2013 Annual Catalog is "live" now and I've worked on a few projects between pulling retired items from and organizing my new ones in the Studio.  I hope to bring you a number of posts this week with details for each project.

This color palette (courtesy of my Color Coach) combines the new In Color Midnight Muse with More Mustard, and Rich Razzleberry.
A card for an upcoming baby shower features another new In Color, Primrose Petals:
Make a Cake is the cute set I used here (along with my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to line up the cake with the pennant flags).  The Designer Series Paper, Patio Party, highlights Summer Starfruit, another new In Color.
I used Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon in this card, which features Mixed Bunch.
I'm so glad Tea Shoppe returned from the Occasions Mini Catalog this spring!
Another Occasions hold-over is Apothecary Art, which pairs beautifully with the Labels Framelits.
Finally, Raspberry Ripple is the color paired with the Perfect Plum and Crumb Cake in this project:
Hope your June has gotten off to a good start!  I look forward to your next visit, when I delve deeper into these projects...
