Oscars-Inspired Floral Note Card

I love the fashion-inspired challenges provided at the Runway Inspired Challenge and this (RIC79) must be my favorite.  We were given a selection of Oscars looks from which to choose as our inspiration and I chose this one (among others; stay tuned for future posts and I'll come back here and link them):

Photo: Oscar.go.com

When I look at this dress, it translates to the floral image from Butterfly Basics** (a set in the Occasions Catalog), Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke, Blush Blossom, florals, a bit of sparkle (see her ring?) and vellum.

To mimic the construction of Keira Knightley's dress, I mounted Sahara Sand on itself, but used Stampin' Dimensionals to give it a lift.  The lettering on the dress is recreated using the "Thanks" from the Hello You Thinlits (I bought the bundle).

I wanted the floral to be subtle, much like it is in Knightley's dress, so I inked it in Sahara Sand, as well.

The Blush Blossom blooms are simply punched using the 7/8-inch Scallop Circle punch, scrunched and sueded.  The top layer is the soft sueded "inside" of a circle and it's mounted on the smooth "outside" of a circle.  Double your card stock that way!

A Rhinestone Basic Jewel in each center is inspired by Knightley's lovely ring.

**The Butterfly Basics and Butterflies bundle (and individual items) are currently unavailable, but will be back in stock to order soon.  The strike on the Pacific Coast docks will require weeks of work to sort out and these items will be on their way to SU! Headquarters soon. If you're interested in ordering them, please let me know and with no obligation to purchase, I'll notify you when they're available to order again.

Another Thank You for {12 Weeks of Christmas} & a Mojo Challenge (Did Someone Say 'Online Extravaganza?')

I run through Thank You notes pretty quickly at my house.  I created this one for a past Mojo Monday Challenge (MOJO370).  I'm loving the luscious Lost Lagoon in this year's In Color rollout.

I also love the fun (and *EASY!*) sparkle that Silver Glimmer Paper brings.  You can punch it, use it as a stand-alone layer, dye it different colors, and run it through your Big Shot (I give it an extra go to be sure it's cut, as it's thicker than normal card stock). Future {12 Weeks of Christmas} posts will highlight this fun Stampin' Supply.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamps: Another Thank You Photopolymer

Papers: Very Vanilla card stock and Silver Glimmer Paper

Inks:  Lost Lagoon Classic Ink

Artist's Flair:  Boho Blossoms Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon

Stay tuned as next week brings the annual Stampin' Up! Online Extravaganza! There are going to be great deals on all sorts of Stampin' Up! products, so please click back here for more information!

Stampin' Up! 2014 Sale-A-Bration {Studio-Sara} Countdown: You're Lovely

This lovely stamp set is You're Lovely, a Sale-a-Bration (SAB2014) freebie (page 14, W133575 C133578) with a $50 merchandise purchase until March 31.

Rhinestone Basic Jewels (AC page 171, 119246) add a fun and sparkly touch of class to this lovely stamp.  I also love how the Square Lattice TIEF (AC page 191, 119976) mimics the background of the stamp.

I used the same TIEF in this project, created for challenges with The Shabby Tea Room and CASology.

I created this card for a Mojo Monday MOJO334 and Cute Card Thursday 310 challenge.

The DSP is a Sale-A-Bration freebie, Sweet Sorbet (SAB page 11, 133521).  The Pool Party pieces were run through my Big Shot (AC page 184, 113439) with the Fancy Fan TIEF (AC page 191, 127751).  The little piece was punched using the Little Labels Punch Pack (AC page 181, 126881).  The Basic Black flower on top came from the Itty Bitty Shapes page (AC page 180, 118309) and the center for the flower is from the Cupcake Builder Punch (AC page 181, 121807).

There are more Sale-A-Bration projects to come, but time is running out.  The deadline to order is Monday, March 31.  Click {HERE} to order.
